My full name is Dean Alan Addams. I was born in Singapore in '66 - Chinese year of the fire horse - to an English father and a Dutch mother. My father was in the Armed Forces and so I spent a lot of my life abroad, mainly West Germany, before moving to England as a teenager to live permanently.Educationally; I got my Bachelor of Arts degree with honours and then went on to do a Master's degree in English Literature. Since then I have completed a post graduate certificate in Psychoanalysis and Culture before, more recently, my Diploma in Gestalt. In the arts I specialised in performance work, film making and installation work. I am fascinated by the psychology of making visual art and the significance of representations within cultural arenas. Academically I specialised in sexuality, taboo and sexual dissidence.Through all of this I have always maintained a healthy interest in human psychology, fed by nearly a decade's academic education and years of practical experience. Before becoming a counsellor I worked teaching art to people with mental health issues and later on became an advocacy worker for people with mental health issues. My personal journey has been one of colourful experiences, and it is these experiences I combine with my creativity, my humanity and my spirituality to facilitate my role as a counsellor.
